Ruger SP101
The Ruger SP101 is a small-frame, all-steel, double-action revolver known for its rugged and durable construction. Introduced in 1989 as a counterpart to the larger GP100, the SP101 is a popular choice for concealed carry and personal defense.
Features and design
- Robust construction: The SP101 features a solid stainless steel frame with no side plates, contributing to its durability and strength. This heavier, all-steel design helps to manage the recoil of powerful magnum rounds.
- Grips: It comes standard with a cushioned rubber grip with synthetic inserts. The grip frame is designed to be customizable, allowing for a variety of aftermarket options.
- Safety mechanism: A transfer bar safety mechanism provides an extra measure of security against accidental discharge.
- Cylinder and lockup: The triple-locking cylinder locks into the frame at the front, rear, and bottom, ensuring positive alignment and dependable operation.
- Sights: Sights vary by model. Many standard models feature a pinned ramp front sight and an integral rear sight channel. Some models offer adjustable sights or special versions with enhanced sights, such as the Wiley Clapp edition.
